A.G.B.U's YP committee was established in 1995 in Los Angles. Right now there exist nineteen YP groups spread all over the world;
- North America : Boston, Detroit, Greater New York, Los Angles, Northern California, Orange County, Philadelphia, Toronto
- South America : Brazil
- Europe : Austria, Geneva, London, Paris, Plovidiv, Sofia, Zurich, Armenia (Yerevan)
- Middle East : Beirut, Iran (Tehran)
In September 2004, three of members of A.G.B.U's scouting division in Tehran branch took part in A.G.B.U's 83rd general meeting held in Yerevan. There, they become aware the existance of YP, and decided to set it up in Tehran branch as well.
Therefore, in October 2004 A.G.B.U's YP started its activity, with nine members in Tehran who were all nominated by A.G.B.U's main committee.
This newly established committee was soon able to attract more members. It was so successful that on its first meeting, in which Mr. George Santourian one of the head-members of AYA of Lebanon was also present, almost 80 members where attending.
YP of Tehran is involved in different kinds of activities such as :
- Professional Programs : photography exhibitions...
- Entertaining Programs : tours, dinner parties...
- Gathering donations : having lotteries, charitable, donations...
All the above mentioned activities serve A.G.B.U's main goal which is :
"To preserve and promote Armenian identity and heritage through educational, caltural and humanitarian programs." |
